Initiate's Trial Status

originally posted by Trys

Amazon has never charged me for a pre-order and has a lowest price guarantee. If the price changes I'll be charge the lowest price.

Status: cover art, about finished, down to touch up this and that and the signature. Did a crude shot, today, so I could see the composite - how the images fit together. Last adjustments will be based on that.

Also have the black and white inking of the interiors well along. Which means, this phase of the deadline will be wrapped up early.

All the better to get a leg up on Destiny's Conflict…

Looking forward to eventually seeing the artwork for the cover.

Speaking of interiors and black and white inking, Janny what were the symbols above the chapter titles in Grand Conspiracy representing? The 4 interlocked circles. I do not recall such a symbol being mentioned anywhere in the series.

Could it be a symbol for the 4 elements? Circles were mentioned as part of the conjury done at Earle in Grand Conspiracy.

Status: cover art is now into being processed into digital.

Chapter head graphic: done
Frontis piece drawing: done (only left to scan
endpiece - ready to be inked.

Pretty soon this book will be complete with all the frills.

Janny how do you get such large pieces as you do for the covers accurately scanned into digital format, do you have to send them off somewhere? Or do you have your own setup in the studio to take a high quality photo of the artwork.

Oct. 27th, eh?

Even my soon-to-be 6th nephew is choosing to wait until the day after to be born (he's due Oct. 28th). A sure sign that the date was a good choice, great tale-spinner. Can't hardly wait (for both!)

Status: all the artwork is now completed for Initiate's Trial (cover and interior) - not turned in yet, only because of the royal wedding hoopla - grin - apparently, overseas, they are partying too hard to get me the specs on the digital files until the whole affray is over.

BUT - time to bribe the Paravia gryphon!!! (And give him the rich thanks he deserves for bringing you this website and this chat!) When he is happily sated, and rested, and fully content (and free of his own work pressures) you will have your long awaited preview of the cover designs…

The gryphon's ear tufts perk up at the sound of bleating mutton-on-the-hoof.

I've pre-ordered my copy today

Thanks for the cover art image link Trys.

All looks very interesting, although I am still thinking about that poor tree and the mixed seasons, and trying to work out where the background image is. Be interesting to see if Seshkrozchiel ends up toasting any sunwheel fanatics, I assume she is the dragon on the cover. Havish's sigil looks quite grand. Janny is that a black falcon in the snow under the tree? I can see the raven landing in the tree and the beak and legs of the bird on the ground look different to the way you do your ravens.

Yes, it's magnificent! I already asked for a print of the tree with the Celtic design frame around it!

And I absolutely CANNOT WAIT to get my copy! Yes, that was a shout .

Tree of life I would presume, should make for an interesting development in the story, especially if it is a falcon waiting there in the snow.

Hmmm…
The dragon is not Seshkrozchiel? It is perhaps the young dragon Asandir encountered, and the image is the coast north of Penstair.

Seems very quite, I thought the cover art would have got more of a reaction, especially the tree. When the Paravia gryphon gets a chance would it be possible for the Initiate's Trial cover art to be linked to the new button on the main page, It still shows the Traitor's Knot cover art as the newest addition to the site. Thanks Trys, who I assume is the gryphon in question.

And I find it very fitting that the guardian of Janny's site would be a gryphon.

Hi Annette,

Yes, I'm the gryphon in question.

In the past the front page has acquired new artwork as/when a book is released and linked to its 'book' page. Until then the artwork hasn't appeared on the cover and technically isn't published. You will note the current images all have a 'Copyrighted Material' watermark which won't appear when the final 'cover' is added to the front page.

I see, I think?

I did not mean the front page, I meant the link on the upper right hand corner of the front page artwork that we have all been clicking for ages to see if anything new was added. Even with copyrighted material plastered all over the cover art, still it is big news and new. Some who check the site for news are not necessarily going to work out to look at cover art in progress section to find the newest addition to the site. Once this page is archived the link will not be easily visible, mind you not many seem to visit the message board. If you go through the books link on the front page we get the old info for Initiate's Trial saying it is still being written. I know you updated the releases list (which seems to have the wrong release info and date), but some are just never going to check in the right place for news about the new book. I was hoping we could drum up some interest with those that like the quick link to what is new on the site. Personally I can wait for the nice clear cover images. And thank you for all your work, apologies in advance for being such a pain.

I misunderstood what you were asking for. Yes, good point, I will change that link. Thank you for the reminder and your are not being a pain.
