Stormed Fortress: Status Updates

Vindicated by author, Maurice registers on forum!

Without coming up for air almost tells it like it was.

After months of moodily perusing bookshops, PG was devoured between sleeps. (Yes in one day!)

Then years of moodily perusing bookshops…

TK appeared miraculously a week before an interstate conference. Perfect airport reading!

Yeah, right.
Actually, perfect airport rereading.

No matter how fast you write, I'll guarantee to reread faster.

Welcome to the board Maurice. If you're looking for something to read between your Wurts fixes, try looking through the book nook on this board. There are many recommendations there.

Hi Maurice - welcome here!

Curious - does anyone ever read Janny s-l-o-w-l-y?

I confess that I just cannot do that, but know that the indigestion will be alleviated by repeated gradually slower reading over several years. *grin*

There should be some posts in the book nook about finished series if you want to avoid being left hanging.
The bookstore I go to offers great recommendations but it specialises in Sci Fi & Fantasy. Looking around that store is always a voyage of discouvery. I found out just the other day that the author Michelle West actually works there.

Roisin, I read all books at great speed the first time around. Especially the latest book in an ongoing series. I'm in the midst of re-reading as slow as I can to avoid missing things. The only problem is all my WoLaS books are hardcovers and not every easy to tote around on the streetcar and bus. My friends all laugh at me for carrying around "bricks."

Thanks for the answer Janny. I realised I forgot to say something in my last post.

I'm a very fast reader normally, however I do read Janny's works very slowly. For one thing, I don't skip any word, for another, I try to visualize the scene, and finally, I will reread a section if it doesn't make sense and ponder it until it does (or I finally give up).

I don't feel you can rush this story and get the full enjoyment out of it, no matter how alluring the ending is.

R’is’n,

I started a re-read of CotM for the purpose making some notes along the way and found that I got caught up in the story and was forgetting to take notes. <grin>

Trys,

*grin* Sounds like something I would do…

Dear me, I haven't been around for a while and have not much time to write, but I try to read as many of the postings as I can.
Came across Maurice's musings about publishing date for SF - mate, we in Australia are the lucky ones, we always get Janny's books first off!!
Always had my book finished when others were still wondering where to pre-order.
Janny is doing a fantastic job progressing with this once in a lifetime series - apart from all the other ventures she is undertaking. I really wonder how she does it. There must be a secret place of time and space lapse where she can beam herself to and write for hours, while still doing "life". Or maybe she can sustain herself on 2 hours sleep a night? Maybe Janny is an Espresso addict like me, that might explain the high energy.
You just go girl … while the wolves are howling in the woods…(and the gryphon is having a digestive snooze)
Cheers

Ahhh, progress!
Subchapter 7a in full draft, clocked in at 21 manuscript pages.

A writer's pause for sweet moment of satisfaction (scene COMPLETE) before sounding the well for the next one.

Janglement, Eeek! - the holiday season, a'coming too fast! onward, and quicktime, before the flurry of fun that conspires toward Creative Interruption.

I could put Christmas on hold for you if you like Janny. Free you up for a bit more writing before the festive temptations start to beckon?

I'm a big fan of yours and although I love my job and hate to let little children down, I would prefer to be curled up reading your delights!

I'll just go let Rudolf know we're on hold until’say’early March?

Happy Holidays!

Hi,
I've just finished Traitor's Knot and have located this web page in order to find news of the next volume, (and to locate a map of Paravia that my failing eyesight can cope with!). All I need now is a little patience. I have an advantage over some readers in that I have a lousy memory which means I can enjoy re-reading my books while awaiting the next.
Thank you Janny, your talent is awesome.

Janny, I have to say, reading your commentary on your writing process and progress is really insightful as well as keeping us fans salivating. It helps me see how such a HUGE task (and WoLaS is a biggie!) breaks down into small steps of page by page, scene by scene, chapt by chapt.

I know I know, obvious, but still, quite something to witness, and helpful for me.

Thanks for sharing this journey with us. I hope we keep you company as writing can be lonely. (Though I love the quietness)

Welcome to the boar Derek. Be sure to check out the Interactive map on the website, a feature that was just recently added.

Welcome Derek - we like new faces!

Update for Today - surprises coming.

A scene change, a shift in the going mood-setting cd. And maybe a snip of text a bit later…one of the one-liners from Bransian just might be too fun not to share.

And - yes! - it's official, the revisions and edits and all that stuff DONE on The Sundering Star…and I may have goofed, it could be a year earlier in release.

And - to tantalize worst - there are whisperings in the background on POSSIBLE release dates. No posting them yet. They are NOT finalized.

This Brain Station is Now Changing to a locale off the east coast of Paravia…
