I Agree! I am back to re-reading Ships of Merior!

And Congratulations Janny on the contract and the writing progress. I've managed to secure another avid reader - my 20 year old son. I wasn't sure if he could get into your style…but he did. This from a kid who used to complain about how Hemmingway took 3 pages to describe a meal!

Best wishes

Welcome to Sheena, thank you to Iris, and hi to your 20 year old adventurer. He obviously isn't afraid to stretch his limits a bit!

Today's peep into the authorial mindset: Lysaer v. Koriathain

I started reading Janny when I was about 15 or 16 I think. It did me nothing but good! Of course, it's only now that I'm starting to draw out some of the deeper veins… but still. It's not impossible for younger kids to read Janny.

(Wow, has it really been that long?!)

Indeed it has - I have just turned 24, and I think I borrowed Curse of the Mistwraith from Cinderford Library…when I was 15, I think?! I still haven't tired of the unfolding tale - I think its safe to say I am officially hooked. This is my first post, but have been following your discussions for a year or so now. You really add a whole new level to my re-reads!

Oops, topic drift has occurred. All of the book discussion topics are being moved to the Book Nook.

Just dropping in briefly again. I seem to drop back to this place every few months!

Great news that the contracts for SF and part 1 of arc4 have been done, nice one.

More topic drift, will be moving these posts also. There were moved to: General Discussion: Koriathain longevity.

Just as an FYI, this topic is for discussion of the status of Stormed Fortress and needs to be relatively clean so people can find info quickly.

Thank Trys … was getting a bit boggy for a while there …

and a HUGE thanks to Janny …

I wanted to take this opportunity to say thanks for engaging your audience like this, I really cannot think of any other author who interacts with their readers in the way you do here. To me it not only adds to the whole atmosphere of the story, but creates a sense of belonging … adds to the immersion.

For a fan to be able to discuss a author's book(s) on forums is not new, but active participation from the AUTHOR is something else entirely … you provide clarification where possible and tease where you can, all appreciated greatly.

I think you are an amazing author and the fact that you reach out to your audience in this way simply confirms to me your commitment to the fans and to the story.

THANKS!!!

Thank you so much Trys for putting 'em where they belong. This will definitely enable
seeker(s) to more readily find references to other books.

Stormed Fortress update - Another subchapter's drafted…and another wee hooker that harks back to Fugitive Prince…smug wink. Wonder who'll see it coming? Now - one more scene, 3 little one line flash glimpses – and that'll be another chapter wrapped UP. Wonder if I can do this bit by the weekend…? There's this chance…

It's a wet and windy day in the UK today and that puts a smile on my face. That is because I get the feeling Autumn is on it's way, and that makes me smile because I know I'm one season closer to getting my hands on 'Stormed Fortress'.

Am I the only one wishing my life away in anticipation of Janny's next book?

Every time Janny updates us on another finished subchapter I can't help but look forward to the publication date.

Any chance of another teaser Janny? My imagination is running wild thinking about what's transpiring on Athera (and beyond).

Your devoted fan.

Nathan - I'll see about it…the trouble is, finding one that won't spoil Stormed Fortress OR! Traitor's Knot, which some folks haven't seen yet…I could post another Paravian teaser.

(a line Davien gave to Arithon)

I will have a preview here, at some point…of course, if you're at Dragon Con, you could come to the READING and see a whole chunk!!! But inevitably I will have to gag that bunch - swear them to silence for the sake of the rest of you.

Reading at Dragon*Con? Excellent! I look forward to it, Janny!

Incidentally, I'm guessing you'll have copies of TK's US edition, available, correct?

And, will you be doing a signing?

Sort of OT to the topic at hand, but with D*C rapidly approaching, I'm getting hyped and they still haven't posted much of use at the website beyond the guest list.

At DragonCon - there will be a LOT happening!

Here's a slice:

Don and I will be sharing a booth with MEISHA MERLIN in the main Exhibition Hall. This is the upstairs venue with the nice, wide aisles, not the dealer's room. We will have prints and trading cards and Don's pirate calendars, and Meisha Merlin will have the books - not only my releases but those of other attending authors, etc. This ought to make us easy to find between venues. Stop by! If there is no scheduled autographing, books can be done at the booth. (I have no schedule yet, on "official" autographings)

There will be a reading - it could cover any of several unpublished (as yet) pages - I am leaning toward the opening chapter of Stormed Fortress, BUT if no one's read TK, yet, this could change. I don't know what time, yet.

Paintings will be on exhibit in the artshow: the cover art for the British editions, Hell's Chasm, US, and Traitor's Knot, and maybe a few surprises.

Don and I will be hosting the announcements of the artshow and art awards (done at Worldcon). We will also be on a panel on cover art.

I am told there will be 3 writer's panels, but this isn't confirmed yet - I don't have the schedule. I usually bring some books to the panels for new readers to impulse buy - and I can sign AFTER panels so long as we do this in the hallway, not to crowd out the incoming panelists.

Additionally, I will be piping at the head of the DragonCon parade (Highland Pipes) and probably a slot in the artshow with the Shuttle Pipes.

I hope you will all introduce yourselves, stop by, slip out for a coffee or a beer - whatever. This is a great con, a huge party, and it has an amazing number of facets to enjoy.

Ah yes - I have finished my CHAPTER OFF! A wee bit of touch up and it's off to test read.

Sorry if I missed this in the posts but is there a rough idea of the current page count?? I wonder as I am hoping that the book will arrive sooner rather then later without a total rewrite being required due to publishers being unhappy with the page numbers.
