okay Janny, you're on, this is q
this is from Sundancer, Craftsman and other son7666666666 (*and interference from cat)
You may like to recall a certain six months in Jaelot:
Quibbling quotidian quarantines querulous quaffer - quills 'Quarry, Quay'. Quagmire questions quench quartz-wielders quest. Quipster's quintessential quavers - quake - queasy quarrelsome quartermasters quoth 'Quarter!'. Questionable quietus.

Z is hard! Had to get out the dictionary - only three pages of words. Here is my best go - From the end of TK:
Zesty zitherer zonks zillion zombie zealots! Zounds!
Also a work from myself and Sundancer, making use of the 2 pages of X's in the Dictionary. Biedar vs Koriani this time:
Xanthous xerophilous xenophobes X-ray xanthippes.
Left W for those still Wavering!

I'm trully gobsmacked! Those are amazing feats of phrasing and wordsmithing. Best thing I've seen in ages.

Okay, here is my Q offering.
Querulous quadruped queues quarrels, quicksand quandary. Quirky quixotic quaffer quibbles, quizzical, quashed. Questionably qualified, quests queer quorum quintet. Quiet question quite quadruples quips, quicksilver quote quickly quiesces. Quaint quarry quakes, query queasily quelled.
Agh, all those Q's start to look the same after a while This one should be easy to figure out if I tell you the "querulous quadruped" is of course none other than Faerytoes… I may have cheated by inventing the word "quiesces" as a present tense verb form of "quiescent" but… *shrug*

Konran ko's Katy's kews - koool. Knockout acKnowledged.
Dakar's destrier's designation delightfully described, definitely deranged.
Fellows favour Ffaraton's fanciful fantasy.
Willingly waiting wordsmith's will.
Quazy!!! Queasy?
All those Qs…!!!
Truly, I have thought long and long on a preview and - literally every choice I have is a major spoiler…the test reads know it, right from Ch. I, the book will start to deliver in major increments (I am NOT fooling around!)…always before the book comes out, HC Australia puts up a chapter's excerpt…that is a long wait. If I put up a scene and CENSOR certain lines - it will still pull off some of the tension.
Perhaps the best is to snip just a BIT of the beginning - but - that will, and truly, stoke the furnace with a surge - do you really want to sweat it, ramp the anticipation that far?
The writing is progressing very beautifully - but the book has a bit to go, yet. I've turned the bend, and am spiking for the finale, but truthfully, the pub date is not finalized, yet. No chance I can relieve your agony with a (projected) schedule. I'll do that when the manuscript is turned in, acceptably.

Thankyou for the kind welcome. The alliterative summaries are absolutely mind-blowing - wow. I can't wait for the next book - the lack of possibilities on the preview front just heightens the anticipation.

So…*having braced himself for a protracted wait until the HC release of an excerpt*…how long does the excerpt's release typically precede the book's release?
Write on, good Talespinner, write on!
And a belated thanks, Sundancer; even the blind squirrels find a nut once in a while!

Hinting at an explosive first chapter, but offering us no sign of cavalry to the rescue? I think the phrase "cruel or unusual" applies – even Tantalus didn't have it this bad!
Though I must admit, waiting lends me time to mull over the books, poring over them seeking a greater insight. Because any book worth reading is worth re-reading.
HC/Australia usually posts the first chapter a month in advance.
Likely, I could find excerpts that don't involve major characters you already know…that would stir things, but not spoil much - problem is, it may lend you to THINK this is a story that is not connected to the last books - which is misleading, as the main characters are directly involved in a major way…you'd be seeing the peripheral petticoats, so to speak.
The problematic excerpt is the one asked for: that has no entry point, I think, past what the first chapter holds, which is - explosive.
You could always attend the DragonCon reading…
Or I may relent…(I am permitted to post teasers)
Or you may make so much noise, I can't shut you up otherwise.
Or SO many new readers may jump on board in May, June and July, that they will go on and get overseas editions to catch up, prior to US date, that I will feel inclined to fire the momentum further…who knows?
You can whine, yell, pound on your keys, beg - it might work. Might.
Most important is the news that there IS MORE COMING - since some people don't check in here, and seem to think that Stormed Fortress is the ending volume. (feel free to comment if you see that misapprehension, I am straightening it out as much as I can, myself, answering e mails and in blog posts.)
Now to hit this baby OVER the tipping point. 9 set is the kick over to the final wind up.
