Came in here to see how Janny was doing… as I recall she said years ago they moved to where she is now, to be out of the hurricane zone… but saw the footage of the path. So glad they are ok. Never mind the book … it can be (heartbreakingly) rewritten… Thanks Brian, for the update.

More detail from Janny: The eye of Hurricane Ian passed just south of them so the power grid might be devastated for weeks. They’re on high ground but the river flooded and cut off their neighbours. Winds were up at 140 mph and they lost some fences, trees, and siding but the house is overall intact. A horse ran away in the storm but came home the next morning unscathed.
Janny will have to skip her planned livestreams this weekend while the power is out. She and Don will be fixing fences and clearing downed trees, and then she’ll be working on the manuscript by hand!
