Destiny's Conflict: Status Updates

So since my birthday is on release day how do I get a special copy? Just saying

I have no control over how fast the distribution occurs. One hopes, the books will be disseminated quickly so that the 'on sale' date is as soon as possible.

On release day, I'd suggest: preorder via a book shop and go there to pick it up. Or work with an online source that ships fast.

I only write the things; the logistics are strictly the publisher's domain, though it is true to rights they act fastest for books that sell volume.

I always get the digital version to read while waiting for the actual book to arrive. Even pre-ordering locally never got the book on launch day last time. But at least I got to start reading on launch day.

Janny, are you going to be doing some new bookmarks for Destiny's Conflict? I really want that nice portrait of Arithon on something. Several different bookmarks for Destiny's Conflict would be nice.

There will be a commemorative book mark for Destiny's Conflict, yes.

Snippet! Snippet! We finally have a snippet!

It was over two years ago that we chatterers were singing Battle Hymn of the Republic, amongst other ditties, with parody lyrics, pestering our intrepid author for just one [more] snippet of the awaited next book. Seems like only a few weeks ago, from out here. For Janny Wurts it must seem like a few lifetimes ago.

Glory, glory hallelujah…

The huge problem with previews of this volume is that almost anything I could pick would be spoilery, and a crater of magnitude, taken out of context.

This was, really, the only bit that was the LEAST damaging preview…says alot about the contents of this volume.

The long haul (work, work, work!!!) on this one, also - I literally had no time to look sidewards to review the text for a likely glimpse.

Hard at work on the last, pressured part of it (copyedit) with only page proofs yet to go when this stage turns in.

Just prior to release, I will give you the first chapter set.

There is a blurb on amazon uk now for destiny's conflict…on the kindle version at least…

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Destinys-Conflict-Sword-Canon-Shadow-ebook/dp/B00HPLP6B K/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1492967502&sr=8-1

I am excited enough to be rereading a little bit of alliance of light…read "kewar tunnel" last week…reading a little bit of "necromancy happenings" too this week…I see Lysaer learnt some paravian cantrips (kind of missed that first time around)

Thanks, Neil, for posting that. I will be checking (later) to be certain it's the one I wrote for it. (editor has not read the book; so they can't! and the outline sent with the contract would be mucho spoilerific)

Right now, I'm finishing the tail end of the copy edit, it will go out very soon (tonight).

NOTICE TO READERS WHO HAVE A USER ACCOUNT AT R/FANTASY at Reddit - the forum is taking its 2017 POLL for best novels and series list…you have FOUR DAYS LEFT TO VOTE FOR YOUR FAVORITES!

Getting a favorite book or book(s) on this list is incredible exposure for any author you enjoy.

DO fill out your number of preferences, to the limit of the rules. Please DO NOT go there and just vote for one author. That's spam.

Yep, that's the correct flap copy, non spoiling.

I have turned in the copy edit, so…publisher's next step is sending it to typesetting.

Occupied with a wee short story deadline, meantime (not Athera related).

Word is that Black Bargain, which will appear in Evil is a Matter of Perspective, will be heading to the printer soon. So there's a little tidbit backhistory story for you. And if you didn't get hold of The Decoy in Unfettered II, it's already out.

Ripping through a new little short at a very fast clip.

And still burning with excitement for your coming ride through Destiny's Conflict. Warning: you WILL throw the book at the wall, you WILL have some really REALLY hair raising stuff, and there will be reveals as you have never seen before this…yes. Excited.

NOTE: this is the LAST DAY TO VOTE at the r/fantasy list at Reddit. Vital visibilty if you love any book, and it takes VOTES to make the list at all (they will cut off the lower numbered books that got least support). All they want: is your TEN favorite titles, you don't have to order them, listing them IS the vote, it's just numbers, not placement. They only do this ONCE a year, and a lotta readers use it for a guideline to find stuff. This is a great forum for fantasy, well moderated and run, and not at all an unsafe place to post - it's a cut above most of the rest of the site, so don't let the 'reputation' scare you off. The mods there work very hard to keep the trolls out.

I've got the run up months to release for Destiny's Conflict to make ALL the difference in how this press run is handled. Every little bit of visibility, every new reader, counts. You all here are my best advocates. (Yes, I voted, but not for myself).

The book is in production at the proofer's. Page proofs will be soon.

Thanks to all who voted in the r/fantasy poll. No books of mine made the list - it would have taken 20 votes, and Light and Shadows received ten. The two honorable mentions did not count. If they had tallied downlist like last year, that would have shown up, but given they left the voting up for 2 weeks and had nearly a thousand entries to count, the cut off was 20. I appreciate the effort made, it means a lot.

FINIS!!!

I turned in the page proof corrections 5 minutes ago, which means: my share of production on this book is DONE.

NOTE TO READERS: if you want the hardback of this book ORDER IT THE INSTANT YOU SEE THE PAGE FOR THE HARD BACK EDITION GO UP!!!

I do not know how big the press run for these will be, but they are doing it for you collectors, so DO NOT DELAY making your order!!!

Me, too! "Delivery will be 12th October" predicts my Amazon.de Oracle. Seems like shipment to Germany takes 7 days after US release (if 5th of October is correct…) Now what to do for preperations?
