Yay, Janny! Good news. Congratulations. I'm excited to see what happens next.

Anyone wants to see what my office looked like 5 minutes after turn in, I just posted pics on FB and Twitter.

This series has been part of my life for nearly half my life now. These characters have become so important to me, and the fate of Athera too. I can't believe this is the penultimate book - the beginning of the end! How amazing a journey it has been as a reader.
In that time we've gone from the print age to the digital age in novels - reading them on my device has actually changed how I read the books - with different sections highlighted as the pages adjust to the font or space I select. There are bits I have missed and new insights into characters that I've not seen in the previous readings. New lovely sentences to admire, that perhaps I skipped over as I followed the action on the pages. Recently one struck me - after the Kralovir scenes - of the light bleeding out of the sky, staining the clouds red. Atmospheric, beautifully descriptive and pertinent because it's appropriately ghoulish. Those scenes always slightly nauseate me - and I think slightly more, rather than less, each time.
I donated my books to a local library in Cape Town before I returned to the UK, so hopefully they have recruited a few more fans.
Enjoy your break! Looking forward to reading it.

Thank you, Roisin, new readers are needed very very very much!!!

No word on schedule for release, yet, I'm told the meeting for that will be next week, hopefully I will have some idea, by middle of the week. Need to know anyway to schedule in the art.

Writing, meantime.

This morning I honestly can not decide what is killing me more, Waiting for the next Star Wars Installment or Mrs. Wurts book in the Wars of Light and Shadow GAH!

Man, if everybody in the world had this problem, my bills would be paid!

Waiting for word - e mail is blank. Meant to be a schedule meeting, today, but, so far, I have zero news. I'll be back in a flash if that changes.

Fingers and toes crossed along with eyes! All I can think is that they are blown away by it!

Meeting held; there has been talk, nothing concrete to report, yet.

I love you Janny but your publishers are killing me over here.

Because?

I am surviving on writing two short stories, due very quick.

The moment I have word that's concrete, I will post; so far, still talk.

I agree, the suspense of waiting for that publishing date seems a lot worse than usual.

Set pub date: Sept 7, 2017
Just in this morning.

(Did I use enough exclamation points?!)

Fantastic- but I will whine a bit- a whole year to wait???

Yes, a whole year to wait. I don't choose the pub date, and we are lucky: it could have been longer.

The advantages: we have a WHOLE YEAR to build new readership and also to chalk up (when they get the page set) advance orders. ADVANCE ORDERS determine the press run, and all sorts of backing/momentum -in fact, they are critical.

I can't stress this enough: that reader enthusiasm growing the numbers adds impetus to everything else you want (and I want).

Rushed production happens because the driver is PROFITS - it costs HUGE!!! to shove a book out fast. The selected date was chosen because THE STAFF HAS THE TIME TO PUT ALL THEIR FOCUS ON THIS TITLE, undistracted by a bigger ticket byline.

So - you want (in the future) more preferential treatment, backing, an audio book, more visibility - readership has to be there and GROW.

I am lucky; grateful; still here! And we are seriously on track for production. My plan (because yeah, A YEAR!) Produce glorious art, two shorts that tie in for outreach, and a definite effort to market ahead to make this the best and most significant success and release EVER!!! Lots of time to bring new readership on board!

Starting next week: To Ride Hell's Chasm won the r/fantasy group poll on GoodReads - that group WILL be kicking off discussion in the GoodReads r/fantasy group NEXT WEEK - it is the September Book of the Month and the group read begins, ON SEPT 1st. There will be threads going up including a NON SPOILER topic and old reader enthusiasm there can REALLY jump up the number of participants. The start up for this discussion is a HUGE and opportune moment - and new readers will jump in if they see folks commenting who loved the book! GoodReads forums are a READER THING and I cannot do this, myself. (There may be an author Q & A at the very end, but that's on the downbeat - the start of the discussion and a lively interaction with the readers on the book's themes - THAT is the critical moment).

People who try Hell's Chasm are positioned to like Mistwraith…People who liked Empire, but can't hack the shift - Hell's Chasm is the PERFECT entry point - this is a HUGE opportunity in a forum that, last I looked was pretty darn big - 2800!!! members. So that discussion being lively can become a HUGE boost.

ANYBODY can go to the forum at r/fantasy at Reddit and post a new thread LISTING THAT RELEASE DATE, now it's final, go forth…that forum has 100,000 members so starting a post thread with the release and your reason for loving the series — rate it, review it, talk it up online!

Yes, a year. I plan to make it an opportunity that COULD put this series, seriously, on the map. It needs to be SEEN and get on the rec lists, the best series lists, all that.

Welcome to help spread to joy!

Sept 7, 17 - lots of chance to roll that snowball bigger.

If I can focus on WRITING and not MARKETING - we'll have Song of the Mysteries that much faster.

Right now: pleased as punch we have a publisher behind this release, AND - it's gonna be handled in synch with all the prior volumes! You'll be getting the story I crafted, and that is, right this second HUGE.

Celebrate the opportunity. I am.
